I am a student following an arabic course at my university, and I struggle with learning with Al-Kitaab.

I have gone through a year now, going over Al-Kitaab part 1, and I still only know basic words and can't form a proper sentence without first writing it down (after careful thinking). I've done (most) of my homework, but I get very little feedback from my teacher, so it's hard to get it corrected.

When I go over the sentences for the vocabulary, I get frustrated and discouraged because I don't understand half the words or the meaning :-/

So, what is the quickest way to get up to speed? I'm going to set aside 6 hours a day to learn as many words as possibly, and I have decided that grammar will come next semester... Firstly I just need to know some words.
